§ 10-127. Reciprocity.

  • (a)

    An electrician holding a currently valid license or certificate of registration in another city may apply for and receive a similar license or certificate of registration in this city without taking an examination if:

    (1)

    He submits evidence satisfactory to the building standards commission that his license or certificate of registration was issued under conditions not less restrictive than required by this article for issuance of a certificate of registration, and that an electrician holding a certificate of registration issued by this city would be permitted to apply for and receive a similar certificate of registration or license in the other city under reciprocal conditions; and

    (2)

    He pays the registration fee required and complies with all other requirements of this article.

    (b)

    An electrician applying for a certificate of registration in this city under subsection (a) may apply to the chief electrical inspector for a temporary certificate of registration. The chief electrical inspector may issue a temporary certificate of registration to the electrician if he submits evidence satisfactory to the chief electrical inspector that his license or certificate of registration in another city was issued under conditions not less restrictive than required by this article for issuance of a certificate of registration, and that an electrician holding a certificate of registration issued by this city would be permitted to apply for and receive a similar certificate of registration or license in the city under reciprocal conditions.

    (c)

    A temporary certificate of registration issued to an electrician under subsection (b):

    (1)

    Shall automatically expire thirty (30) days after the date of its issuance, or when the building standards commission approves or denies the application submitted under subsection (a), whichever occurs first;

    (2)

    Shall permit the electrician to begin work on a single project prior to building standards commission approval of the application submitted under subsection (a); and

    (3)

    Is not renewable or transferable.
