§ 18-31. Policy, purpose and intent.

Latest version.
  • In order to conserve the available water supply and/or to protect the integrity of water supply facilities, with particular regard for domestic water use, sanitation, and fire protection, and to protect and preserve public health, welfare, and safety and minimize the adverse impacts of water supply shortage or other water supply emergency conditions, and with an understanding that water is a finite resource that requires careful and proactive management, the City of Ennis adopts the following water conservation plan.

It is the intent of the City of Ennis to set conservation goals using this plan that are designed to achieve conservation savings through common sense measures, without burdening our customer with needless costs, while still meeting the requirements of the Texas Administrative Code and generating enough water savings to extend the life of the existing supply.

The objectives of this water conservation plan are as follows:

To reduce water consumption from the levels that would prevail without conservation efforts.

To reduce the loss and waste of water.

To improve efficiency in the use of water.
