§ 2-101. Composition.

  • The mayor shall appoint, subject to confirmation by the city commission, an economic development commission which shall consist of nine (9) members. Each shall be a resident of the city. The economic development commission shall be comprised of members that have demonstrated competency in one (1) or more of the following areas of economic development:

    (1)

    Industrial management and development;

    (2)

    Commercial management and development;

    (3)

    Real estate marketing and development;

    (4)

    Finance;

    (5)

    Marketing; and

    (6)

    Community leadership.

    The members shall serve without pay. The members shall be appointed for a term of two (2) years. Any vacancy shall be immediately filled for the unexpired term. A chairman shall be elected from among the nine (9) appointive members to serve for a term of one (1) year. The mayor shall serve as a voting appointive member of the nine (9) member economic development commission. In addition to the nine (9) voting appointive members, the city manager and the managers of Texas Utilities Electric Company and Lone Star Gas Company shall serve as nonvoting ex-officio members of the commission. The city commission may from time to time appoint other nonvoting ex-officio members who shall serve a term of one (1) year.
